Have you been dreaming of going to Mexico but don’t have the luxury and time to do so? Or how about dreaming of eating an authentic Mexican cuisine yet you don’t know where to find one? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered on this post. Tortuga Restaurant might just be the place you’re looking for. Blending a classic Mexican ambiance and the Latino taste, this restaurant satisfies you in every way possible.
Tortuga is a Spanish word which means “turtle or tortoise”. It is indeed true to its name because they are located just near the vicinity of the turtle lagoon at Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel.
Located at Mina A’ Salam hotel near the pool and beach area. From the hotel lobby, you can turn right and go down the stairs. Once you go out from there, you can already see the restaurant itself.
Jumeirah is known for their 5-star luxury hotels. With its 5-star luxury rating, there’s no wonder that this restaurant’s service is also as luxurious as their hotel facilities.
With its antique setting, vibrant and warm colors, there’s no doubt that the flavors will take you to Mexico itself. They also have outside seating for people who love to see the waterways. During the hot season, we recommend seating inside the restaurant for you to enjoy the food better.
We tried three main dishes, one appetizer, and one dessert. For us, it was enough to taste a real Mexican cuisine in Dubai.
APPETIZER – They offered us free nachos while waiting for our main dishes. The chips were not crispy though, but we love dipping it in their salsa and guacamole. You can ask for another set if you wish for.
VERACRUZANA style – This catch of the day is too overwhelming. Imagine eating one whole big fish for yourself. Flavors were rich, the fish meat compliments well with their sauce.
BURRITOS – A wrapped flour tortilla with lettuce, dressing, beans, cheese, Coleslaw salad, Mexican rice, and cream. This one is super big – imagine eating a regular shawarma but thrice the size.
ALBONDIGAS – It literally means meatballs in English. It was creamy and at the same time, it has the taste of chili on the end. They also serve this with rice too.
TRES LECHES CAKE – This was our favorite. This small tiny dessert was not that sweet yet it will make you even crave more. It includes vanilla sponge topped with whipped cream, tres leches ice cream, and a cotton candy. Too much to handle, I know!
