Flying with Singapore Airlines | Airline Review

On our recent trip to the Philippines, my hubby and I scored a cheap flight, which includes a 5-hour layover at Singapore Changi Airport, with Singapore Airlines. At first, we were hesitant since it is our first time flying with this airline. Singapore Airlines did not disappoint us though, instead, they exceeded our expectations in so many ways. Our journey was very smooth after all.

Dinner menu is also given before each take off. Different menu on each class.

Well, for the baggage, it will be 40 kilos free for check-in and 10 kilos for hand carry. They also have a routine of asking the passengers before boarding their flight if they want their hand carries to be included with the check-in. Sounds good right?

We got the fare for a very affordable amount. We booked it through their website since we have a Kris-Flyer account (you can earn points and can be used later on your next booking). The only downside of our fare is the VAT. Yes, there’s a tax included! They have 4 different types of fare according to your preference which is: Business Class, First Class, Premium Economy and the Economy Class.

The food was spectacular. We got 3 sets of meals and unlimited mineral water, juices, sodas, beers, teas and wines. The food choices were great, the only downside was it is a bit small in portion.

Small portions of food. They have salad, water (coffee, tea, soda, juice wine and beer is also an option), main course, bread and butter, and ice cream.
the best ice cream that I’ve tasted so far.

We were very comfortable. They have enough space for people to straighten their legs, especially on long flights.

very spacious right?

Louis Vuitton inside the airport, and it is tax free!

8. Free Singapore City Tour

Do you have at least 6 hours and above of layover? Well if your answer is yes, Singapore gives you two different types of tour: The Heritage Tour and City Tour.

For the Heritage Tour, they are conducting it 4 times daily while City Tour is only 2 times daily and is also available during public holidays.

They have different registration booths located at the following:

*When you arrive at Changi Airport, please remain in the transit area and do not clear immigration as the registration booths are located in the transit area.
*Transit passengers are allowed to enter and exit Singapore once during their layover period, as per guidelines stipulated by Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore. Therefore, passengers are not able to join more than 1 tour (which involves entering and exiting Singapore more than once).
*Seats are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
*Tour timing may change depending on the weather and traffic situation.

They also require you the following to get the free tours:

4. You are a transit passenger of Changi Airport.
5. Your layover should be at least 5.5 hours and above.

Our flight was smooth with their pillow, blanket, and free headphones that you can take with you.

While some Terminals are very far from each other you will easily think how can we get to the destinations that we want? At Changi Airport they have complimentary Skytrain between Terminals 1, 2 and 3 which operates from 5 AM to 2:30 AM. The average travel and waiting time are four minutes.

They also have complimentary shuttle bus to and from Terminal 4. Just proceed at the Shuttle Bus Pick-up Point at T2, Arrival Hall Door 1. The Drop-Off point at Terminal 4 is at the Departure Hall between Door 3 and 4.
